Medusa's Kouzina (Brigton, Adelaide)

I am here in Adelaide for the second day. Us the entire family went out for a day in the city buying stuff and spent generally a pretty good day. After getting home we decided that we'd go out for dinner as well. I haven't been here for quite some time and asked my family for a recommendation. They decided that we go to this restaurant Medusa's Kouzina in Brighton. My sister drove us over there. It looked very unassuming and I was right about the first impression. I asked for a grilled octopus for an entree then mixed grill (lamb yiros, chicken and lamb kebabs and a Greek sausage). It all turned pretty alright. I got satiated but still decided to have a coffee and a baklava. And it all turned out pretty reasonable too. All I have to do now to wait long enough for my satiated tummy to settle down and go to bed with this wonderful feeling of very satisfied fullness...

Off to Adelaide

I'm writing this on a plane off to Adelaide. Well. I'm taking a week off to see my family. The ticket was on sale a while back and so I got it... Though it still costed more than NZD800... For a 4 hours flight. I guess that's the result from the lack of competition. Anyway. I thought it's a good opportunity to... Stock up. I need to stock up on clothes. Yeah. Stuff I brought over from the US is all literally wearing out. All my casual shoes squeek when I wear them because the bottom is worn out. The shirts started to have holes. So did my shorts. Of course I could get them in the Land of Sheep... But. Not cheaply, I found out. So, might as well get them there. I'm looking forward to seeing my family the first time in 18 months.

YAB

Yet Another Birthday. Great. They say as you get older you get wiser, but I sure don't feel like it. Only a week and a bit to go before going home...

Cock and Bull (Newmarket)

A bunch of us from the lab went out for a lunch for my (upcoming) birthday. We were tossing up where to go out to... Either the Cock and Bull down in Newmarket or Cardrona Ale House in Mt. Eden. We decided on the Cock and Bull just because it's a lot closer to work; Cardrona would be a little too far for a quick lunch. Anyway. We went down there around half past noon. They shouted lunch and a drink for me, nice of them. I had a Cock and Bull platter.

It was huge! I managed to finish most of it except for some wedges; some of them tasted this blue mold, which was disgusting, really. After the lunch we dropped by at the Sierra Cafe on the way back to work to pick up some coffee. Not too bad I thought... Until the sleepiness hit me. The afternoon was pretty much written off as I was so sleepy from the full tummy.

Apple BT Mighty Mouse

The boss at work happen to like Macs, and I get to use a Mac there. It came with a Bluetooth mighty mouse with a little scroll nubbin. It was working fine until... Today. It decided not to scroll downwards anymore; all other directions were okay. I googled and found (it always comes through) that this is a quite common thing. Basically the ball catches dirt and the directional thingy inside the mouse gets dirty and stops functioning properly. There are some solutions to this problem; the easiest being press down on the ball and roll around, and the most extreme being disassembling the mouse and clean it out. I guess the proper way of doing this is to clean it but it involved too much of work (at least for short term) so I just tried the easiest solution. And it worked. But I am suspecting that this is a temporary solution, and the problem will come back sooner or later... Pity there is no easier way to do a proper cleaning.

You are looking at approximately NZD6 worth of cod roe. Yeah. How did that Mastercard ad go?

Imported Japanese salted cod roe: NZD6
That feeling of being ripped off: Priceless
