Katsura Restaurant@Rendezvous Hotel (Mayoral Drive, Auckland)

I read it somewhere that there is a pretty decent Japanese buffet hidden somewhere in Auckland. I consulted my ever faithful Mr. Google and came up with the answer. This place Katsura Restaurant at Rendezvous Hotel offers buffet lunch and dinner (on some days of the week). They have this buffet lunch on Fridays. But it's pissing down outside. What do I do? Well. Just bribed my technician to get us driven there.

I must say... I was impressed. Impressed enough to pig out. Yeah. My bad. Went around 5 times. Plus the dessert. They had sushi, sashimi, tempura, oden, salad, etc.

Wall Street Fighter?

Thought it was real funny.

Cajun Chicken Pizza@Heat Pizza (Auckland)

Went to this joint on the recommendation of my technician. He lived at O'rorke Hall for a number of years and frequented this place or so he tells me...

I had a cajun chicken pizza.

I must say it wasn't too shabby. Not too shabby at all.

Friends' wedding

So I got to go to another wedding; grad students from our department are getting married. Bunch of us from the lab drove down South to Beauford at Totara Park. It was unfortunate that we had a pretty bad weather... Anyway. I'd never attended Chinese weddings before but this one was interesting. The celebrant was obviously a Kiwi, the ceremony itself finished in half an hour or so but the newly weds presented this cups of tea to their parents. In return they received red envelopes. I've never seen such a well documented wedding ceremony... Everyone had some form of digital recording device, and there was a steady stream of clicking noises and flashes. After all the commotions of getting photos taken, the reception. They had pretty good food.

And dessert.

Congratulations to both the bride and the groom, and to their respective families.
