Eiji Japanese Restaurant @St. Heliers

A bunch of us went out for a dinner at this Eiji Japanese Restaurant out in St. Heliers. I've heard good things about this joint and since a friend of mine happened to have the Entertainment Book that carries a 25% off coupon, we decided to give a go. I chose the "Deluxe" set menu. I only managed terrible pictures but...

The set menu started with 6 pieces of sashimi and 6 pieces of sushi.

Followed by a bowl of salad. You could choose edamame instead.

Then I chose "chicken-chanko" paper nabe dish. You could choose from paper nabe dishes including sukiyaki, chicken-chanko, salmon and Ishikari or Toban yaki. I heard that this joint had the paper nabe specialty, so I gave it a go. It was kinda strange to see my food cooked in folded paper, no doubt a special kind, forming a little pot in a wire basket over a small fire. Nothing leaked out of the paper and it didn't catch fire either. The food cooked this way tasted pretty good.

4 pieces of Tempura also came with it. You could choose either Tempura or Kushi-age here.

To be honest, I was very impressed; for what you get for the money you pay. The price was very reasonable for what I got. Pity I didn't try this place earlier.
