Noodle Kingdom (Gouger St., Adelaide)

Me and a couple of friends went out for a quick dinner in Chinatown. We jumped in one of our favourite joint Noodle Kingdom on Gouger Street. The last time I came here though it did not really impress me; it kinda smelled funny, and floor was not very clean. So I must say I had a little hesitation going into this place again. However I did not encounter any of these problems this time. We sat close to the entrance, and maybe a gust of fresh air was blowing away the nasties. Who knows? Anyway. I went for a couple of items, including:

Chive puffs (This was REALLY good)

And a bowl of noodles with mutton (This was also pretty good)

This joint is very cheap, what I had came to under 20 bucks. I was very satisfied.

Rotring cleaning liquid

I use a Pelikan M200 fitted with an M400 EF nib to write the lab books. I filled this pen with Platinum Carbon ink so that the record is truly permanent. Over the course of its use however, I managed to screw up the pen; when I kept it in my bag, the cap came off accidentally and I did not realize this happened. This resulted in the pen partially drying up and caused the ink refilling mechanism to be rather stiff. I have been meaning to get this item to clean it out, and I finally found one...

I'll see how this will turn out. I'll probably flush the pen out as much as possible with water first then suck the cleaning fluid up in the pen and leave it for a while to see how it goes. Hopefully it will clean the pen out without damaging it...

Update: It really works. I rinsed out the pen with water first until I could not see any black coming out. Then I pour out some of this cleaner in a jar I could throw out after I'm done cleaning. I sucked the cleaner liquid into the pen and left it like that for a few hours, then removed the nib unit (unscrewed off from the body) and soaked it for a few more hours. The cleaning liquid went black, and I had a nicely cleaned up pen.

Lake Torrens

On the way to the work, walking on the City Bridge overlooking the Torrens Lake. I thought it was very pretty.

Sato Japanese Restaurant (Melbourne St., North Adelaide)

The family went out for the Sato Japanese restaurant on Melbourne Street in North Adelaide. I read somewhere on the web that it's good, and I wanted to check the place out. I had a Calpis-soda, gyu-sashi (Sashimi beef) and a sushi combo.

Had a Calpis Soda. I must say I've had better.

Sashimi beef as an entree. This one was alright.

And some sushi.

All in all, a bit of a disappointment, really. I guess food was not too bad, but the price made it just not worth it. In retrospect, I should've gone for one of the tuna sushi set, as the place seems to be known for it.

It's becoming a bit of a habit.

Went to the Central Market to pick up a few choice items... Like tofu. Anyway, ate at Ramen Tei yet again. This time I went for the karamiso (spicy miso bean paste) ramen set.

I guess it was alright, it was pretty spicy. But I don't think it was as good as the corn ramen set.

Did it again...

And this time it's a corn ramen set. At Ramen-Tei in Central Market.

I think this one has been the best one I've tasted from this vendor so far. Soy sauce soup of Tokyo style ramen tends to be somewhat bland and lacking that heavy base of something like tonkotsu. But by adding butter-sauteed corn to the noodles I think it added that base. I liked it.
